Payment arrears
There may be times when you are temporarily unable to pay your insurance premium. This could be due to a drop in income or an unexpected large expense. The reason is not important to us. What matters most is preventing payment arrears from causing you further difficulties.
If you expect to have problems making a payment, please contact us as soon as possible. Together, we will look for a solution to help prevent payment arrears and the consequences that may follow. For example, we may be able to arrange a payment plan. The sooner you contact us, the more options we have to agree a solution with the insurer.
What happens if I do not pay?
You have thirty days to pay the premium for your insurance policy or policies. After 16 days, we will send you a payment reminder. If you have still not paid after thirty days, you will no longer be insured. Your insurance cover will lapse due to non-payment. The payment arrears procedure is explained in more detail below.

Payment due (day 0)
You have thirty days to pay the premium.
Reminder (day 16)
You have 14 days left to pay. Please note that your insurance cover will lapse from day 30. If you are unable to pay your insurance premium soon, please contact us immediately.
No longer insured (day 30)
Your insurance cover lapses due to non-payment. We will appoint a debt collection agency to recover the outstanding premium. From this point onwards, you are no longer insured, even if you subsequently pay the outstanding amount. Your obligation to pay the premium remains in force, even though your insurance cover has lapsed due to non-payment.
If you pay immediately, your insurance cover will resume from the following day.
Please note: if this concerns motor insurance, you could face a fine of several hundred euros from the RDW. This is because you are legally required to insure your vehicle.
Debt collection (day 37)
The debt collection agency will take steps to recover the outstanding premium. From this point onwards, all contact will be handled by the debt collection agency rather than by us. The amount you owe will increase, as you will need to pay not only the premium but also the additional costs charged by the debt collection agency.
Enforcement officer (day 58)
We would prefer not to take this step, but as a last resort we will instruct an enforcement officer. They may apply to the court to enforce payment of the outstanding amount. By this stage, the amount due will consist of the premium, debt collection costs and enforcement costs.
